X2: Eclipse is a Brand New Upcoming Action Mobile RPG
It was brought to my attention recently that a brand new Action RPG was available within China – and I know, China isn’t really known for making the highest quality titles, but I feel as though the gameplay and art style in this one look pretty good.
Not nearly as good as some of the titles I’ve covered and enjoyed over the course of 2020 but nevertheless, something aesthetically appealing that looks as though it plays well.
With this in mind I wanted to cover it today – and bring it to everyone’s attention if you guys weren’t already aware of it.
So, X3: Eclipse is an action RPG. You take missions, you deploy into the field to complete said missions accompanied by 2 other characters, totaling a group size of up to 3 at max.
These characters can be chosen before departing, and are controlled exclusively by the AI. There’s a Gacha system present in-game, which you’d expect from a game like this. It’s a mobile Gacha RPG after all so it’s a no-brainer.
Characters are actually based on and inspired by various different Gods for those of you interested in the lore. I feel like this is a recurring theme in mobile games though, having characters named after Gods, Angels or other mythological beings.
From the gameplay I’ve seen taken from players that got to participate in the Beta test and play through the Chinese version of the game I can say that to me – personally – the combat looks pretty fun, pretty interactive, pretty engaging, and that’s what I like to see in my games – PC, Console or Mobile.
One thing worth noting is that there’s almost no auto-play present in-game, which makes it that much more enjoyable for me as if you’ve been watching for any length of time, you’d know I hate auto-play in my games.
Graphically, the game is Anime-inspired and takes inspiration from various Anime-inspired mobile games so the characters themselves, the art style overall looks and feels very reminiscent of an Anime title, much to the joy of the entire mobile market.
Honestly, if you’re looking to play through the game there are various ways to go about downloading it and trying it out for yourself.
Again, it is exclusively in Chinese right now and there is no confirmed release date for any type of International version – heck, there’s no confirmed release for the game outside of China right now, so it might be your best bet to try the Chinese version out if it looks interesting to you.
We might get a release outside of the country eventually, but with how slow China is at releasing their games outside of their region.. it might be a little while.
I think the game looks like it could be a lot of fun though. It looks great and seems to play pretty good, but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it out yet.
