Peria Chronicles Review - Is It Worth Playing?
Some of you may remember the highly anticipated Anime-inspired MMO Peria Chronicles that was announced way, way back in November 2012. But for those of you that don’t or are new to the genre, Peria Chronicles is a 3D Anime-inspired fantasy themed MMORPG with beautiful cell-shaded graphics that has a large focus on user-created content. The game world is actually completely populated by players’ own creations: Their maps, their towns, their quests.. players can freely create the world they’re going to inhabit.
Peria Chronicles takes a lot of inspiration from Mabinogi, combining an emphasis on social gameplay while simultaneously offering players a plethora of sandbox features. This creative freedom allows players to craft the very world we’re all going to be exploring and adventuring in.
Players have, for the most part, however, been left in the dark with regards to the release of the game. Every year players get their hopes up for Peria Chronicles, only to be left.. without even an update. No glimpse of hope, nothing. Even as of October 2018, all we have are “we’ll possibly have a release by this time” and “we’re currently working on that feature”, but it’s been in production for 6 years now and we’re no closer to an actual release than we were when we found out about the game. For all we know, Peria Chronicles could be another 6 years off, or they could end up scrapping the idea all together. Last December we were promised to get important news regarding the game but nothing came of it; Something of a recurring theme it would seem.
So while the game looks astonishingly beautiful, and has the potential to absolutely blow us away.. it’s highly unlikely we’ll be receiving a release for the game any time soon. Even a testing period.
As for Peria Chronicle’s English release? If it’s taken them 6 years to get Peria Chronicles this far, the Peria Chronicles English release (or an NA/EU Peria Chronicles release) is far enough off that it might be better to move on to other games, unfortunately.
