Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is an Upcoming Anime MMORPG!
I’m a huge fan of the Ni no Kuni RPG’s. I’ve played both titles thus far and was excited to hear that a brand new Ni no Kuni game was in development for mobile devices as well! Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is the title for the brand new title in the hit-series, and you know what? It’s been confirmed to be an MMORPG!
That is actually a little more disappointing for me to hear because if you’ve ever played any mobile MMORPG, or at least the vast majority of them, you’d know that they’re all kind of.. basic.
With a lot of auto-play. A lot of auto-combat. And a lack of substance. Which isn’t to say the PC MMO market lacks substance, but at least for the most part you’re capable of playing your characters and the game in whatever way you please.
But this is a Japanese MMORPG, and Asobimo games have been pretty good from my experience, so maybe there’s hope yet.
Cross Worlds is expected to release this year – yes, in 2020 within Japan on iOS and Android devices, with no currently confirmed release date outside of Japan.
Naturally that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to be getting the game, we normally do, we just get it about a year or more after the Eastern release.
After watching gameplay, you can tell this is going to be an absolutely gorgeous MMORPG. I wish we’d get something like this on PC, I feel like it’d probably do better than most PC MMOs out there and on an IP as popular as Ni no Kuni? This would do so damn well that I feel it’s a missed opportunity.
Instead of the traditional story, we’re instead given a unique twist: We play as a Beta tester for an upcoming VR game that discovers the world we’re diving into – Ni no Kuni’s world, is actually real.
I love games where we play in a virtual world, Anime as well, so this is going to be a hell of a treat for anyone interested in the genre.
The game, again, looks absolutely beautiful and from what I saw of the gameplay, it looks like it’s going to be a fun mixture of action combat, providing incredibly flashy special effects woven into smooth gameplay and a deep, rich story.
It’s unconfirmed what type of world we’ll have, whether it’ll be segregated, sandbox or open world but it’s safe to say regardless of the world, we’re all going to have quite a bit of fun in it.
I’m still disappointed we can’t play this locally on PC, but maybe if they find success with the game on mobile devices they’ll port it over or consider a PC release in the future, who knows.
Either way, I’m excited. I love the Ni no Kuni games and will definitely try this out if just to see the gorgeous world in its entirety.
