NCSoft Confirm Unreal Engine 4 Update is Coming to Blade & Soul in 2021.
Yes, according to NCSoft yesterday, it turns out that while they had initially claimed the Frontier World Unreal Engine 4 update for Blade & Soul was shutting down (along with the server that accompanied it,) that wasn’t the end for the highly anticipated overhaul.
According to NCSoft, the Unreal Engine 4 update is now slated for release accompanying their June 2021 update. Not only will the overhaul be completely altering the graphical engine of the game, but they’re working on upgrading the entire “living world,” along with introducing new content in the form of 4-player dungeons and a brand new difficulty system.
Those are just 3 of 9 planned updates for the game over the course of the year, however it is definitely worth noting that while we don’t have an exact release date for the Western version of the Unreal Engine 4 overhaul, NCSoft did confirm that we will be receiving the update “later this summer.” So we have a rough estimate, but knowing NCSoft and their track record it might be safe to expect the worst case scenario: Never.
Regardless, it’s good to see that they haven’t given up on the project yet! I know this project is one of gargantuan proportions.
