Lucent Heart: A Look at the Anime MMORPG in 2020
It has been a very long time since I last dipped my feet into Lucent Heart. Not because this is by any means a terrible game, but because it was one of – if not the very first let’s play I uploaded to our MMOByte Youtube channel. Fast forward 4 years later, and here we are jumping back into it and taking a look at it in 2020!
Character creation was about what you’d expect. There were no changes – the same few different customization options. The leveling experience is much the same. Everything about the early-game was more or less exactly what I had experienced 4 years ago, however, every server was PvP-enabled, meaning that there was nowhere to hide from other players should they want to PK you. This happened to Mrs Stix as soon as she logged into the game after creating her character – and the two of us got ganked by two level 15 characters 15 minutes into our stream of the game. This was quite a turn-off for both of us as that means anyone can kill you at any time – even in the towns. There were no safe zones.
After 3 to 4 hours we called it quits because, honestly, while Lucent Heart is not terrible by any stretch of the imagination – it was just very, very slow, very repetitious and provided little to do outside of murdering either other players or the same monsters for an entire day.
