Lost Ark Global Announcement: Amazon Games Publishing the MMORPG in North America and Europe
Yes, this is it. Amazon Games have announced last night that they have entered into a publishing agreement with Smilegate RPG, the developers of Lost Ark in South Korea. According to their blog post, “Amazon Games is committed to bringing our customers the most engaging game experiences, both through our own internal development teams and from the very best external development studios around the world,” which means that they are more than opening to begin publishing MMOs globally now, MMOs that would have otherwise gone to publishers like Gameforge or MY.GAMES – which is fantastic news for us as consumers.
They went on to note that Smilegate has a “strong track record of creation big games that players love, built to offer years of enjoyment.” Yet forgot to factor in the South Korean audience was actually highly disappointed and bored with Lost Ark, thus their expansion into additional territories, and their dedication to trying to improve the game for their players.
Now while the blog post didn’t exactly confirm it would be Lost Ark that Amazon Games would be publishing, it’s worth noting that Smilegate are in charge of 3 games on PC in South Korea: Lost Ark, Tales Runner and Soul Worker. Soul Worker is currently published by Gameforge, Tales Runner.. looks terrible, and Lost Ark is all that remains. And is probably the most “AAA” title in their list of games.
They didn’t mention a specific release date for the game, but did go on to confirm that the game will be releasing some time during “2021,” with specific details to be revealed at a “later date.”
This is fantastic news for the community. We’ve been waiting too many years to get Lost Ark in English, and with this announcement, players can finally rest easy.
Amazing!! Finally.
