KurtzPel is Almost Unrecognizable in its Current Form
People have been asking me to do a new video on KurtzPel for a while now. I honestly had no idea why until I read through a list of all of the changes made to the game.. and trust me, after this I can see why the concurrent number of players online is only around a thousand.
So, let me start this off by stating that I played KurtzPel when it first launched. Mrs Stix and I played for the first few days but burned out pretty quickly as there wasn’t much to do.
However we figured with time there would be new Karma’s, new instances to do, new story. You know, what is generally perceived as “content” in a video game.
I’d come back whenever new features were announced to try them out, but afterwards I’d be left with the same sense of.. boredom I guess? As I felt after the first few days of playing.
But don’t get me wrong – that isn’t because the game itself is bad, that’s just because there’s a lack of things to do if you’re not into PvP.
See, in the past there were cutscenes, there was story, there was lore behind characters, Karma’s and the world itself.
However, if what I’ve learned is to be believed, there isn’t actually any of that left. Animated cutscenes were removed from the game, including the story and the lore behind.. pretty much the entire game.
This leaves new players without the ability to experience what was an integral part of explaining the world we inhabit.
The game has also become much more pay to win than ever before, but this is KOG Games after all and that’s essentially a given at this point in time.
Gearing yourself now is an arduous grind, having players spend a cumulative total of hundreds of hours if you want to equip yourself with a solid set of gear.
This makes it increasingly difficult for players – new players in specific, when the game is so heavily focused around PvP. Which, now that I’m talking about it, forces players to play 3v3 and 5v5 PvP modes respectively, which I know a lot of players really dislike.
And don’t get me started on the cash shop.. and how overpriced everything is. There’s so much wrong with KurtzPel right now and it’s clear that KOG have absolutely no idea what they’re doing.
They’re removing everything they can, and gating everything else behind pay-walls to make certain they make as large a profit as they possibly can off of the playerbase before they catch on and come to the realization that the game really is just a money-sink and they don’t care about it.
I’ve never been a fan of KOG Games. While I’ve enjoyed some of their games in the past like Elsword, and yeah, even KurtzPel when it first launched I’ve never been a fan of how KOG go about handling their games.
But then at the same time I know they’re a company and in the grand scheme of things, their goal is to make money. I’m not criticizing them for wanting to make a profit off of their game. But there are definitely other ways of going about it.
KurtzPel was a very, very fun game when it launched. It had really amazing combat – I enjoyed spending hours in both PvP and PvE and creating and customizing your character provided almost endless amounts of entertainment.
I don’t see much of a future for the game. I know KOG released a new Karma recently, and it was pretty underwhelming. A lot of people were concerned it used recycled animations and was more or less a last second addition to the game.
And that’s because at this point all KurtzPel is is a money making machine.
This will likely continue to be the case until people end up leaving the game in numbers that leave KOG with nothing else to do other than to shut it down.
In the meantime, we have plenty of other good looking Anime games and even Anime MMOs to look forward to.
Blue Protocol’s closed beta will be rolling out next month, Genshin Impact just announced their new closed beta, Phantasy Star Online 2 just rolled out onto Xbox One and will be hitting PC soon, and Gran Saga will have a beta test later this year.
So while KurtzPel slowly declines, know that there are still some fantastic alternatives. Granted none provide the same PvP features KurtzPel does, but you can always satiate those needs in KurtzPel itself until it’s no longer around.
As fan of kurtzpel, all I have to say reading this is: it’s as sad as true.
yes true and it’s deep of what this game lol mobile lol no story lol so trask and ugly eww its like more like then big Elsword trash.
