Kiss of War is a Multi-Million Dollar Scam
Okay, this might make you a LITTLE uncomfortable. It definitely made me feel that way. But I’m going to let you guys sit through the ENTIRE advertisement that was playing as I was browsing Facebook. WARNING: You might want to turn your volume down and make sure you’re alone.
And before you guys judge me… I use Facebook for the drama, okay? Not for something weird like keeping in touch with people.
Yup. That is the kind of trashy advertising being done all over the internet. Not just Facebook. I’ve seen this on Twitter, and even Youtube itself. It’s… just wow.
Now this was for a game called “Kiss of War.” I’ve never done a video on this game before. Mainly because it doesn’t seem remotely like something I’m interested in trying. But after seeing that advertisement.. I had to. I had to see what type of game it was. I had to see if you could legitimately do what the ad was alluding to.
So I went and downloaded it. After a few minutes, I loaded into the game and was greeted by some incredible looking character models.. and a very basic looking city-builder. Like State of Survival, but.. worse looking.
I played around with it for several minutes before making it to the main story. This consisted of me sending some troops off to do battle without any input from me. So they did, and they rescued one of my waifus from the enemy.
Then I proceeded to do another battle, and another. I spent some resources to upgrade some of the buildings. I spent some resources on recruiting new unit types. And eventually.. I made my way to the list of waifu’s present within the game, and let me tell you.. some of these characters were absolutely stunning.
As you can no doubt tell by watching the video above. Admittedly a few of them are a little.. stereotypical, and I swear one of them was Jasmine from Aladdin.
Yet even after all of this.. nothing even remotely similar to what I saw in the advertisement was present within the game. I’ve done a video like this in the past, where I detailed how EverTale was utilizing gameplay footage from a game that they had no rights to use.
And I went on to show how State of Survival was advertising a game that wasn’t remotely close to what the actual game was.
And here I am again. I don’t like doing these types of videos because I feel like the developers, the publishers are sleaze bags. Legit, preying on younger audiences by providing highly suggestive content in an attempt to confuse viewers into clicking, downloading and playing their trashy game?
I’m gonna be honest with you… if your game requires shady tactics like this to continue to grow your userbase… maybe your game just isn’t appealing to players.
From what I played of Kiss of War, it wasn’t a bad game. It felt like several other games I’ve played that employ the exact same gameplay mechanics.
But seeing these types of advertisements actually turn me away from wanting to play the game. I don’t see games like Epic Seven, Guardian Tales, Fate Grand Order, Honkai Impact or other popular mobile games lying to potential players for that extra download.
These companies are legitimately burning through so much money advertising attempting to cater to horny guys that won’t stick around to get what they need from the game, especially when there are great alternative websites you can go to to actually watch exactly what you’re after.
Come on. This is just pathetic.
