Conqueror's Blade in 2021: A Unique MMO we Didn't Know Existed!
I’ve only ever dedicated maybe 30 minutes of my time to Conqueror’s Blade in the past. This is due to the fact that I just didn’t have the time to devote to it otherwise. However I’ve always wanted to delve a little deeper into the MMO and see what sets it apart from the rest of the genre, so when MY.GAMES reached out to us to take a look at the new Season VI content, I jumped at the opportunity to.
After providing a basic character creator, both Mrs Stix and I jumped into the game. We were greeted to a basic tutorial explaining how the game works, showcasing each of the different weapon types you could equip – as Conqueror’s Blade doesn’t utilize a class system, rather, a weapon system allowing you to change playstyle on the fly.
Then we’re thrown right into the game – which takes place predominantly in small to large-scale battles. Interestingly, there are a surplus of different game modes available to play ranging from death matches to siege battles to free-for-alls. These battles force you to engage in player vs player content against other players of varying levels, which admittedly can be a little frustrating at times. We often found ourselves getting 2-shot by much higher level players with better troops. You do level regardless of whether you win or lose, though, so it isn’t too difficult to catch-up, but it’s still frustrating as a new player.
The focus of our dive into the game though was to take a look at their brand new Season VI: The Scourge of Winter, which offers new cosmetic items, new campaigns, new troops, new gear, new sign-in rewards. There is a lot to earn over the course of the Season’s duration, but even if you’re not interested in the Season rewards, the game itself is an absolute blast to play through – especially for the first time while you’re trying to figure everything out.
