The game utilizes segregated zones, allowing players very small, incredibly linear environments to explore, fighting monsters and progressing through the game.
Caravan Stories could have been a really great MMORPG, but instead, what we were given was an auto-combat mobile game. Which might appeal to some people, especially given the cross-play functionality between PC, Mobile and PS4.
