Bandai Namco revealed new combat mechanics last week, and we’re here to discuss them today!

今回は新アクション「強襲攻撃」と「回避攻撃」をご紹介!

First is the “Assault Attack,” a brand new combat mechanic that allows players to jump off of large ledges, propelling themselves downward with increasingly deadly force. Damage is increased the higher the player is, meaning that players will be able to utilize this height advantage – the terrain itself to their advantage when it comes to increasing their damage output both against normal monsters and bosses. Thus far, this has only been confirmed for the melee classes.
続いて紹介する「回避攻撃」は文字通り回避しながら素早く攻撃に転じることができます。

Then, interestingly enough, is their new “Evasion Attack,” allowing players to – if timed correctly, initiate a dodge, successfully making it out of harms way. This is paramount to your survival, especially as a ranged class as it means we’re given the ability to increase our survivability exponentially granted we possess even a modicum of timing. But me being me.. I fear I’ll probably end up ultimately failing every attempt I try at dodging either way.
There were a few other noteworthy additions like new outfits, the new desert region and monsters found within the region, but I’ve covered them in the past. Worth noting here though is that – interestingly enough – the combat seems to have been smoothed out quite a bit, as it is noticeably faster, much more fluid and looks better than it ever has. Granted, this is Bandai Namco here. They’re no stranger to high quality games, and this shouldn’t be considered their final improvements to the game.
