Blue Protocol Global Release Announcement Planned for September?
Okay so I know how excited you all are for literally any Blue Protocol information. I follow the official Blue Protocol account on Twitter and await any and all information released with eager anticipation.
Now last week we were hit with some very vague, but very interesting information that a lotta you guys are no doubt interested in.
Now, if you take a look at their Twitter, you’ll notice a very liked, very Retweeted Tweet from the 20th. It’s in Japanese so allow me to go ahead and translate that for you.
According to them, and this is a slightly rough translation mind you, there has been a period of time since the online survey for the game was completed and they are still in the process of checking through various opinions and requests made by players.
Over the next couple of weeks the team looks to be preparing an official statement or announcement on the overall content of the survey and provide feedback on not only the requests and opinions made during it, but also on the direction of future development.
Scrolling down the comment section of their Tweet you’ll notice right away that there’s a common theme amongst feedback left, and that is that the fanbase want a global release outside of Japan.
I know I’ve given my thoughts on the game launching outside of Japan in the past, I spoke about how that would be a difficult task to even think about this early in development but it seems like they might already have plans for it.
I could be completely wrong here but there’s no point in always being dead to excitement – never looking forward to something or believing that a game won’t release especially when they word it in a way that would lead us to believe otherwise.
Nothing has been posted since that announcement although a lot of screenshots have been posted on their Twitter.
Some of the screenshots detail the character creation found in-game, others showcase some of the environments, the combat, skills, effects and animations.
At one point it even shows a large portion of the players that took part in the recent test all grouped up together participating in… something.
Since we’ve only gotten a teaser and 1 semi-trailer, it’s refreshing getting additional content even if it is in the form of screenshots because it gives us a deeper look into the game.
And from what I’ve seen thus far, the game looks to be shaping up better than ever.
I’m hoping that the team behind Blue Protocol announce plans for a global release next month – heck, I’d be happy if the team announced that they were even merely contemplating the thought.
That yes, they don’t have the time or resources to devote to a definitive answer at this point but it is something they are at the very least interested in doing.
I would take that. Because we’d know that they’ve listened to the feedback that we’ve left and that they’re taking the time to let us know that it’s something they’re potentially interested in doing.
Alas, we’ll need to wait and I know that waiting is the most difficult part of.. pretty much anything for me.
I’m excited to play this in any form I can get. If it only ever releases in Japan, then alright. I’m sure a translation project will begin that will allow us foreigners to play the game outside of Japan.
Just like we did with Phantasy Star Online 2, Monster Hunter Online, Dragons Dogma Online and the other MMOs never graced with a global release.
But us Western players are still waiting on the day we get another Anime-inspired MMO to fill our time with, to engross us in and to give us that sense of wonder that we haven’t had in years.
I didn’t get into the alpha? beta? test I forget which it was, but I know several people that did that all offered me either footage or the ability to play the game in some capacity.
I didn’t have time to at the time because I was busy and that’s a huge regret of mine, however from what I was told it was quite the enjoyable experience.
I’m assuming they’ll have future access to the game as well so I’m hoping that during the next testing phase there won’t be an NDA in place so I’ll be able to record footage and give you all a closer, deeper look into the gameplay.
And I know that’s going to make you all incredibly jealous! But again, if we’re lucky.. then you won’t have to be for too long.
But that’s pretty much all the information we have right now pertaining to the English localization and potential global release of the game.
I know this might not be the confirmation you were hoping for – as we don’t have anything definitive at present but knowing they’ve received our feedback and are looking to address the future of the development is.. reassuring.
Until then, and, heck, even after their announcement next month I don’t think we should stop letting them know we’re interested in receiving the game outside of Japan.
If we press them and continue to remain resolute in our want and intention of playing the game over here then maybe, even if they announce they don’t currently have any intentions of releasing the game globally, they’ll end up changing their minds like they did with Phantasy Star Online 2.
Or they won’t. Either way, don’t stop being excited and don’t let the news damper your anticipation for the game, I won’t.
