Argent Twilight is a Brand New Anime RPG from Nexon
Have you ever wanted to take your relationship with your in-game husbando or waifu to the next level?
.. who am I kidding? Of course you have.
So, a year and a half ago I did a video titled “NEXON is Making Serious Moves…” where I showed a gorgeous Anime character in the thumbnail, along with a short teaser for what seemed to be an incredible looking cross-platform upcoming Anime MMO called “Project SF2.”
The good news? As of a couple days ago, Project SF2 has been confirmed to be “Argent Twilight,” and we have full gameplay. The bad news? Well, it’s Nexon.
Nexon are making a very grandiose claim – They’re stating that Argent Twilight is going to be “The Ultimate Collectible RPG,” dethroning the likes of Genshin Impact, Punishing Gray Raven, Arknights, Azur Lane.
Given this is Nexon, though? It’ll definitely be the “Ultimate” something. “Dumpster fire” might be a term I’d coin, but you know what? I’m always excited for new Anime game. While Nexon might ruin it like they do all their games, it might still be fun for a little while.
So, Argent Twilight is an upcoming Anime Gacha RPG. They confirm there is over 300 unique elemental heroes to collect – which means players are going to spend millions trying to collect those walking Booba-er, those Husbando’s and Waifu’s.
It utilizes Unreal Engine 4 – and honestly, graphically, the game looks pretty good. I don’t think it looks as good as other games like Aether Gazer, Punishing Gray Raven, Zenless Zone Zero. But it doesn’t look bad at all.
It has been reported that they’re going to utilize a.. relationship system, allowing you to romance your Waifu’s and Husbando’s. How.. extensive that is remains to be seen.
And finally, the combat is turn-based. Not action. Not tab-target. Turn-based, just like Honkai: Star Rail. I wonder why these devs are opting to release these games with turn-based combat systems?
I loved when turn-based systems were employed in older JRPGs, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think this generation appreciates them nearly as much as I do.
Regardless, this is Argent Twilight. A brand new Gacha game from Nexon. Will it succeed? Doubtful. Does it look fun, though? Yes, it does. Just because Nexon will run it into the ground doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun in it until they inevitably do.
We don’t have a Global release date at present – heck, we don’t have any release date currently. But Nexon always likes to keep us waiting about 7 to 8 years before releasing a game they announce – if they successfully get the game to that point, anyway.
Who here remembers Peria Chronicles? What about Project BBQ? Yeah.
