Project Relic: A Brand New Upcoming Online Multiplayer Action RPG
In a move I’ve never seen before, the South Korean indie developer Project Cloud Games announced that not only are they working on the development of a brand new online multiplayer action RPG, but that they’re also opening a Kickstarter to aid in the development of the game moving into the future.
Project Relic, as they’re currently referring to it, is being built for both PC and console platforms in mind. No mobile cross-platform compatibility will be included, this is being built specifically for the PC and (unconfirmed which, currently,) consoles in mind. The game is still currently in what they’re referring to as a “prototype” version, but from what I can see I’m impressed. Not only does the combat already seem much more fluid than what is typically found within Western indie games, but graphically the game is looking absolutely stunning. I’m uncertain if this is built on Unreal Engine 5 or not – but I guarantee you this will be a gorgeous game once it’s complete.
Park In-hyuk, the CEO of Project Cloud Games confirmed that they are developing the game with the goal of “enjoyment, beyond the normal.” The game is expected to launch some time in early 2022 – where is unconfirmed. Considering they’ll be opening a Kickstarter for the game – a Global Kickstarter, it would imply they’re looking to present the game to a global audience, but that’s just speculation at this juncture.
Regardless, I’m excited to get my hands on the game and see where it ultimately ends up going into the future. While this isn’t an MMORPG, it’s a game that can be played with (albeit a currently undisclosed number of) other players online.
