Eternal: A Brand New MMORPG From Asobimo
Asobimo is a Japanese Mobile MMO developer. A very, very popular one at that.
They’ve developed and published MMOs like Iruna Online, Izanagi Online, Stellacept Online, Aurcus Online, AVABEL Online, Toram Online, Alchemia Story and a handful of others.
They have tens of millions of active players spread across their games and are one of the most highly regarded developers in Japan due to the kind of games they produce.
I’ve enjoyed quite a few of them myself – they’re a certain quality of game – one that isn’t nearly as.. I dunno. I don’t wanna say “as heavily pay to win” but I feel like traditionally, South Korean MMOs are much worse than Japanese ones.
From my experience at least. So back in October when Asobimo announced that their latest game – titled Eternal was in development, I was excited! I enjoyed Alchemia Story, despite some people not feeling the same way.
This time however, instead of an Anime inspired MMO Eternal would take the form of a more 3D fantasy game.
Back in October they opened pre-registration for the game, however there wasn’t much in the way of follow-through information revealed.
Interestingly, Asobimo actually secured Yoshitaka Amano – known for his work on Final Fantasy if you couldn’t already make out from the poster in the back.
Not only is he in charge of illustrations and the logo, but he’s also overseeing visuals, monsters and character designs – Yes, you heard that correctly. Yes, you can get excited.
There hasn’t been much in the way of actual information revealed thus far but from what I’ve read around online it seems as though they’re planning on making sure the game functions much like the majority of their already existing titles.
It’s going to be a traditional MMO – and instead of aiming for ridiculously over the top graphics, they’ve went for something that won’t strain or overheat your phone too drastically.
Honestly, securing Yoshitaka Amano is pretty sick, but knowing they’re going to essentially be developing an MMO successor to their entire selection of games is pretty exciting as well.
While we’ve only gotten a little gameplay and a cinematic trailer, it’s reassuring knowing who’s behind it.
I look forward to seeing where development goes and what kind of result we end up with going into the future!
is this game that one that would be also a MMORPG?? GATE something??? also from asobimo…
Gate of Rebellion which is unknown status for now. Tried the beta phase, look promising but well no more futher information tho. Not even a word from the Bimo themself.
that was my question too. idk if it was the gate of rebellion. some says that game was discontinued for global release. but i think it was the gate of rebellion rebranded for global release
