Your Weekly Byte Of MMORPG News: MapleStory 2 Closed Beta Invites, Battle For Azeroth Beta, TERA Anniversary

March, Week 4 In Review: MapleStory 2 Closed Beta Invites, Battle For Azeroth Beta, TERA Anniversary

MapleStory 2

To start things off, if you haven’t already, then head on over to Nexon’s website and fill out everything for the MapleStory 2 Closed Beta.
Nexon is already sending out batches of Closed Beta invites and you have the opportunity to join in before they close the event off!
Unless you’re not interested in MapleStory 2, in which case.. don’t worry about it.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

With the Alpha testing for Battle of Azeroth now over, Blizzard has begun sending out Closed Beta invites to test the game out before their launch later in the year.

Riders of Icarus

Things have been quiet on Riders of Icarus’ front over the last year. I’m sure fans of the game have noticed this if they haven’t already left due to a lack of updates.
Good news though! The dev team have revealed that after dealing with issues preventing them from releasing content for the game, they have went ahead and outlined a list of updates planned over the course of the year.
First off is a new merchant that offers certain materials for crafting Inheritance equipment.
Following that are improvements to the Tempering System, the introduction of a party mode for Ellora’s Spire, preparations for a World Cup event celebrating the Russian World Cup, and the addition of an entirely new region, Turimnan.

TERA

What would a news week be if we didn’t have something related to TERA to include, right?
Well, En Masse are celebrating TERA’s 6th anniversary – and they’re doing it by planning an entire month’s worth of events. These range from events that last the entire month, to events that take place on certain days of the week.
The celebration will begin May 1 and end June 1. There will also be XP events, giveaways, BAM hunts, and quite a bit more to participate in. So drop by if you have time!

Echo of Soul

In what has become known as the “Aeria Effect” (okay, maybe it hasn’t, but I would love to coin that term,) Aeria Games is shutting down Echo of Soul’s classic servers.
The servers will be closing their doors on May 23, including both the North American and European servers.
In preparation of this, Aeria Games has at least had the common decency to suspend the cash shop on the classic servers, however, they are providing players a “Welcome Package” containing unique goodies on the remaining Phoenix server.

Ragnarok Online

After 14 whole years, Ragnarok Online will be shutting its doors to Europe.. Along with Ragnarok Online 2, Dragon Saga, and Rose Online. This is due to the General Data Protection Regulation that goes into effect on May 25 in Europe.
While there are no specifics as to why this affects all of the MMORPGs run by Gravity Interactive, it is nevertheless a sad day to see so many MMORPGs shut down.

That’s it for this week in MMORPG news!
Here’s hoping we have some juicy news for you next week as well!
