Nexon Announce HIT2 - A New MMORPG Coming 2022
You know one thing Korea is good at? Korean fried chicken. Man that stuff is good. Oh, and stunning character models for their MMOs.
Today, I want to talk about a brand new upcoming MMORPG called HIT2.
Nexon and Netgames, the developers for the new MMO have crafted an absolutely gorgeous.. selection of characters, I guess. Since we didn’t see the environment. Or the combat. Or really anything outside of some very attractive characters. One of which was male.
The rest of which were female – not that I’m at all against that. Since I play predominantly female characters in my games, anyway.
Funny enough – people ask me why I play female characters quite a bit – and I don’t really have an answer. They generally look better? Have better outfits? I don’t wanna look at a flat butt when running around? Iunno. I see that enough whenever I look in the mirror.
Netgames revealed that HIT2 is going to provide players gorgeous characters and exciting action combat that are unique to the “HIT intellectual property,” and while we don’t have any current in-game footage of the finished product, to get a gauge for how the game might potentially play, we could look to its predecessor.
HIT2 is going to be set in a large open world, similar to what you’d find in traditional PC MMORPGs. One feature they want to focus on is “large-scale battles that take place between a high number of players.”
They didn’t confirm whether these battles would be large-scale PvP battles or if it was pertaining to PvE instead, but group content seems to be a core part of their vision, for better or for worse.
Netgames confirmed that the footage we saw from the teaser was captured from a live game environment. They’re happy with the depth of facial expression and the realistic direction of the characters they’ve been able to accomplish building the game with Unreal Engine 4.
Some of the characters we saw in the teaser were also supposedly characters from the original HIT MMO – Kiki, Rena and Hugo. I don’t know who’s who, honestly, and I was under the impression they were just showing off the character customization. Boy was I wrong.
But that does leave me a little curious as to exactly how deep the game is going to allow us to go when it comes to customizing our characters.
HIT2 is apparently nearing completion, with the main developers from both HIT and OVERHIT working on finalizing the game in preparation for a full 2022 release.
According to the producer of Netgames, “HIT2 is a game that we are focusing on developing to capture the original fun of MMORPG with the goal of focusing more on what Netgames is good at. We will do our best to settle in the market.”
What is Netgames good at? Uhh.. admittedly, launching gorgeous games and ruining them with pay to win? So.. The same as Pearl Abyss? Nexon? NCSoft – oh wait, they’re all Korean devs. Huh. Makes sense.
HIT2 is going to enter pre-registration in the 2nd quarter of 2022 – with a launch date scheduled for some time in the final quarter I’m guessing.
It’s unconfirmed what platforms HIT2 will launch on – cross-platform between PC and mobile? Mobile exclusively?
We also don’t have an exact release date for neither the Korean, nor English release of the game. Just that it’s scheduled to release – if everything goes according to plan – “within the year of 2022.”
