Whew, after getting off of the Dark and Light video, I went into Citadel: Forged with Fire with some skepticism; however I now realize that was very wrong of me to do being that Citadel is actually a significantly better game than Dark and Light. Not that Dark and Light is a bad game by any means but it just feels like a cheaper, inferior version of ARK minus the huge dinosaurs.
Now, Citadel isn’t traditionally an MMORPG, but it is supposedly built in the vein of an MMORPG; being that is is supposed to be played like one (lacking some of the survival games like ARK, Rust etc.,) such as hunger and thirst, but it is still generally considered a survival sandbox RPG “with MMO features.”
So you can see how this is a little confusing.
The game itself is amazing fun though. Unfortunately I did not meet anyone in-game however I did manage to get quite a few levels, do a large amount of exploring, get into the general skill system, character creation, crafting and building of the game. So all in all, I managed to cover quite a bit of the game.
Graphically, I feel it is far superior and far better optimized than Dark and Light, the combat is a significant improvement over the game as well as it felt so stiff – whereas Citadel is far from it. Unfortunately Citadel had barely any background music which made the game seem semi-lifeless at times, not to mention the small selection of monsters (Deer, Wolf, Orc, Ogre) that I encountered on the way to level 30.
Overall though, Citadel: Forged with Fire is some seriously amazing fun if you’re looking to get away from ARK. I highly recommend trying it out if you haven’t already!
